Karl's 1st round 7-under 65 at University of North Carolina

Highlights from 17 holes of Karl's record-breaking round at the Tom Fazio designed Finley Golf Course at the University of North Carolina.
Built to provide the well-heeled UNC golf team with Tour quality facilities, this course is one of the best you can play outside of a Tour stop.
The course had received 3" of rain on the Thursday before the tournament, so although the fairways were slow, the Greens were very receptive to attacking shots, exposing the course to some low numbers.
Karl had recently transferred to the JPGA coaching Academy in Hilton Head, a move which has seen his scoring get lower by the week.

    1. Those are wonderful rounds for a 12 yo.  He plays so naturally, like he has no fear at all about going low.  He just looks at his target and hits it.  Great stuff !!

    2. Karl doesn't have any weaknesses other than he is a very small kid. I have seen him several times at Junior World events, e.g.,  Pinehurst while with my son. I have had the luxury of playing golf with lots of PGA professionals. I played golf many times with Tony Finau from the age of 13. Tony also won Junior World! My son and I also played golf many times with Rhett Rasmussen & his father that won junior world. Tony can hit the ball 365 off the tee and has a great short game. Karl is a great junior but for him to get on tour with his build is still a long shot! The competition gets that much harder & the grind is relentless. Yes the round was impressive but YES this course is very short! I play state amateurs at 7700 yards, not a measley 5650 yards. I think the kid had a love for the game & I salute him and I wish him the best but the bottom line lots of kids are close to this good & the big kids have the advantage!

    3. I can't get over his ball striking for such a young man!  I mean that Drive on 7 was incredible!  Can't wait to see what this man is capable of when he grows into himself physically.  Will keep an eye out for that name!

    4. This is really impressive, and regardless of how short this course is that is super impressive. Being 19 and able to hit drives in the range of 320ish yards, I would still have trouble shooting in the 70's here I'm sure. These kids are incredible talents! Best of luck in the future !
