Jim Furyk Cards Record-Tying 59 At BMW Championship, Furyk Drains Final Putt
At the end, just a few feet stood between Jim Furyk and history. Needing a birdie to finish his astounding second round at the 2013 BMW Championship with a record-tying score of 59, Furyk landed his second shot on the par-4 ninth hole at Conway Farms within a few feet of the cup -- and from history.

    He drained the putt.

"I told myself on nine, how many opportunities are you going to have to do this in your life," Furyk told the Golf Channel after finishing off his epic round.

With that birdie putt, Furyk became just the sixth player in PGA Tour history to record a 59 during an 18-hole round. The winner of the 2003 U.S. Open joined Chip Beck, Al Geiberger, David Duval, Stuart Appleby and Paul Goydos as the only players to accomplish the feat during a PGA Tour round, according to PGA.com.The 43-year-old American birdied 11 holes (2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 17, 18), carded an eagle on 15 and overcame a bogy on 5 to join the select company.
